Get to know Boston’s very own Detective Dooley*, a major crime solving cop who’s daring escapades you can experience for yourself this summer in Sleuth.
Interviewer: Are you from Boston? If not, when did you move here?
Detective Dooley: For a name like Dooley, you bet I’m Boston, born and raised.
Interviewer: How long have you been with the BPD?
Detective Dooley: Um, about 20 years. [Interviewer: 20 years huh?] Yes.
Interviewer: What made you want to be a cop?
Detective Dooley: Oh it’s a long family tradition. [Interviewer: A long family tradition?] Yeah, Boston Irish, very proud. Long family tradition.
Interviewer: You ever shot anyone? Taken a bullet?
Detective Dooley: I have taken a bullet. [Interviewer: Where?!] Well, um, let’s say, in Saugus. [interviewer laughs] It was not in the line of duty, it was a personal matter, let’s just leave it at that. But fortunately, I have never had to shoot anyone….. yet.
Interviewer: What’s the most exciting crime you’ve solved?
Detective Dooley: Well, since becoming a member of the detectives here in the famed Boston Police Department, I am almost singularly called in in the case of murder. [Interviewer: Oooh, murder?] Every murder is exciting for it’s own reasons.
Interviewer: Boston’s a pretty interesting place, have you met any of our local Boston celebrities? You know, Matt Damon or Tom Brady?
Detective Dooley: I actually met Mark Wahlberg going into Wahlburgers. [Interviewer: Really?] Turned out it wasn’t him. We were both very embarrassed, and I’m sure had Marl Wahlberg been there, he would have been embarrassed as well.
Interviewer: What do you do with your down time, besides go into Wahlburgers?
Detective Dooley: Um, I enjoy all sorts of puzzles, online playing solitaire, I’m married to my work, so I’m a very lonely man.
Interviewer: What are your favorite local hang-outs?
Detective Dooley: Well, my favorite places to be are right there in the center of everything in Boston, Faneuil Hall. They have such a great selection of food there, and of course, Cheers. Can’t go wrong going into Cheers.
Interviewer: Very true. What’s your favorite thing about your job.
Detective Dooley: My favorite thing about my job is bringing justice to those who have none.
